The Garden of Eden
Appointments:
This guitar features abalone, abalone, and more
abalone with some Mother of Pearl thrown in for looks!
Inlays of Abalone from Taiwan
and Mother of Pearl from Vietnam
enhance the beauty of this American Sycamore back and sides with Western Red
Cedar top guitar. Very thin black/white/black (black dyed maple/maple/black
dyed maple) trim lines are around the complete guitar with bindings of German curly
maple. A Mahogany neck is topped with an East Indian Rosewood headplate inlaid with the “Hodges” name in Mother of Pearl.
The Rosewood fingerboard is also inlaid with Abalone and Mother of Pearl in a
very intricate pattern of the horn of plenty, flowers, and the vine of life.
The body of the guitar is encased with inlays of wide Abalone, front and back.
It has Gold Gotoh tuners and a bone nut and saddle.
Inside this guitar you will find my own style of back
cross bracing, and a top that is braced in the traditional style of the pre-war
Martins with my own adaptation of that type of bracing. Braces are Englemann Spruce. The kerfed
ribbon linings and the neck of the guitar are both Honduran Mahogany. Frets are
stainless steel and the scale of the guitar is 25.34”
This is a commissioned guitar and not
for sale.
